The vintage radios and the multitude of other electrical bits and pieces pictured on the following pages have been accumulated over the years and now with the aid of the Internet and lots of Virtual Space everyone can see the collection, which is still growing. Everything you see here is physically in my collection, unless I say it isn't, although it may take a minute or two to find some of the items!

All the repair stories are mine and describe real repairs for real customers.

The true stories are nothing to do with radio but are mainly my memoirs from my 27 years in the Defence Industry with Plessey, a firm whose name was once associated with the manufacture of radio and TV sets and like many others has now been swallowed up by an even bigger company, not once but twice. Anyone that's worked in a big company will no doubt have similar tales to tell!

Above is the entry point to the Virtual Museum giving 22 areas of interest covering vintage radios; all sorts of vintage electrical and electronic items; communications receivers; unusual valves and old radio components; vintage TVs and radiograms together with sections on old and new test gear; some detailed accounts of restoration work; details of customer repairs; help on putting a date on a radio; useful information for collectors and Restorers of radios; a history of radio and some of the famous manufacturers; and last but not least, true stories from my career in Electronics. There's also an entry point to my pages of grumbles and satire.

Customers and visitors to "Low Cost Repairs" and anyone who's passing through this part of West Hampshire are welcome to visit me. Be warned though that we're off the beaten track. I've had to limit giving a home only to things made before 1939 if it's interesting and not too large, especially old wireless sets! Lately I've become fascinated by the development of very early electrical equipment and the collection now includes a number of items made before 1920.
